This is Omron's TENS unit (a Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation device, This device sends a small electrical signal to the units pads and the impulse current stimulates the nerves in the area to block the pain signal signals in the area from registering in the brain. It's best to use the unit as soon as pain begins to help prevent the pain from becoming worse, or even chronic. Each session lasts for 15 minutes and has an automatic shut off. Rate your pain before and after each session to check your progress. Recommended usage is 30 minutes per session for up to three times per day.

NOTE: Place pads at least 1 inch apart on clean, dry, healthy skin.
Do not use on your head or face, neck or throat or near your heart. Do not use with an implanted or attached electronic medical device, on children or on unhealthy or damaged skin

I am very pleased with this machine.  It works very well & does exactly what I hoped for.  The other reviews that I had read before ordering it helped me make up my mind to get it.  If anyone can't make up their mind whether this can help,,,,,,,,it is amazing.  It does work.
